91传媒 students start college careers with community work

August 19, 2022

Incoming freshmen at 91传媒 will begin their college careers by performing service work in communities near the McNichols Campus on Aug. 24-25 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Groups of 91传媒 students, employees and alumni will work together in northwest Detroit to assist neighbors and community groups with clearing overgrow and special projects.

The annual tradition is part of Prologues, Transitions and Viewpoints (PTV), 91传媒’s freshman orientation program. This program introduces new students to service learning while reinforcing the Jesuit and Mercy mission of the University.

Projects include cleaning up Palmer Park, painting a house in the Fitzgerald Neighborhood, working at Auntie Na’s Village and assisting Palmer Park Preparatory Academy with back-to-school preparations. 91传媒 groups will also help the Princeton Street, Prairie Street and Suan Juan Block Clubs to clear lots of brush and debris, as well as making stops at Mo-Flo Garden, Urban Neighborhood Initiatives and Gesu Catholic School.
