91´«Ã½ Theatre Company earns national honors for ‘Antigone’
A 91´«Ã½ Theatre Company production of Sophocles' Antigone has been honored at the 2022 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival’s national competition. It is the first 91´«Ã½ show since 1978 to receive such recognition.
Antigone was honored for Special Achievement in Ensemble Performance for the 11-member cast and Seth Amadei received Special Achievement in Lighting Design.
The show, in a new translation by Diane J. Raynor, was presented in October 2021, under the direction of Sarah Hawkins Rusk, who is an adjunct professor of theatre at 91´«Ã½.
In addition, the production received five commendations for work on the production:
- The company of Antigone for collaboration and also for achievement in representation, equity and diversity
- Maritoni Harte for choreography
- Mary Elizabeth Valesano for costume design
- Alan Devlin for scenic design
Antigone was chosen to compete in the national festival after being honored at the KCACTF’s Region III competition early this year.
