Corporate and foundation grants fund 91传媒 community programs

91传媒 has received more than $2.13 million in grants recently to support the extensive programming the University and its students do in the community.

Included in that total is more than $1.5 million to support the work of the Detroit Collaborative Design Center and its work with community partners and nonprofits in community-engaged design projects across the city of Detroit.

These grants include:

  • $720,000 from the Kresge Foundation to the Detroit Collaborative Design Center’s work with Impact Detroit Network as part of its Hope Starts Here Impact Detroit Citywide Early Childhood Engagement and Advocacy Project
  • $600,000 from the Ford Foundation for core support for the Detroit Collaborative Design Center
  • $206,250 from the Kresge Foundation to support Detroit Collaborative Design Center projects
  • $192,500 from the Skillman Foundation in support of the new Institute of AfroUrbanism and its creation of a Black Thriving Index
  • $150,000 from the Toni Wisne Sabina Foundation to support 91传媒 Law’s Veterans Law Clinic Fellow position over three years
  • $80,000 from the Alex Sutaruk Scholarship Program, funding scholarships for 16 students over two semesters
  • $80,000 from Johnson & Johnson Consumer Inc. to the Dental School for scholarships to the Summer Enrichment Program
  • $15,000 from the Dewitt C. Holbrook Memorial Fund to support the programming of the 91传媒 Law Conviction Integrity Clinic
  • $50,000 from the Ford Motor Company Fund to the Titan Equity Nourishment Network (TENN), which works to help alleviate food insecurity
  • $49,490 from the Ford Motor Company Fund to fund the Ford Community Corps programs in which faculty-student teams partner with nonprofit organizations to address critical issues in the underserved community
  • $48,500 from the Michigan Dental Association to support 91传媒 Dental’s Street Dental Program providing dental services to the homeless population in Detroit
  • $25,000 from the Delta Dental Foundation to support 91传媒 Dental’s Wayne Dental Clinic in Hamtramck and Titan for Teeth Mobile Clinic
  • $20,000 from the Old Newsboys’ Goodfellow Fund of Detroit to support 91传媒 Dental’s Mobile Dentistry Program and Pediatric Clinic
  • $20,000 from the Ford Motor Company to support the Engineering and Science Teacher Bootcamp summer high school teacher training program
  • $15,000 from the Ford Motor Company to support the summer Science and Engineering Exploration Camp for underrepresented high school students in the STEAM fields
  • $15,000 from the Ford Motor Company to support the Engineering College Summer Bridge Program to assist underrepresented freshman engineering and computer science students in their transition to college
  • $3,000 from the CVS Health Foundation to support scholarships for students in the Family Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant programs
